Filled out the online form, got a good quote back. Phoned up to buy said policy only to get put in a queue "all our operators are busy please hold".

I mean you've lured the customer into the shop, they're standing there cash in hand... and you tell them to wait!!??

Almost 3 mins later I hung up and phoned Quinn Direct and the whole deal was done in less than a minute.

Some people don't know how to run a business. You make the people who want money from you wait, i.e. the callers to the claims line. You don't make the people who want to give money to you wait.

They obviously do know how to run a business if they're getting that volume of calls

How can you possibly expect to be dealt with instantly they don't have an unlimited number of people to answer the phone.

I wouldn't even consider 3 minutes a wait. God help you if you are ever forced to actually wait for something.

They don't get an unlimited number of callers so why would they need an unlimited number of people to answer the phone. Jeez if Quinn can manage it so should 123.ie!

I hung up after 3 minutes of waiting. How long more was I expected to wait to give them my money!

Until someone was free to speak to you. You dont appear to understand the simple concept that if all lines are busy you have to wait.

If I were getting something cheaper than elsewhere I would gladly wait.

Would you drive past a petrol station selling cheaper petrol because of a queue of cars and buy it from a more expensive place with no queue?

No I don't have to wait. I can hang up and call someone else.

So I take it you got an even better deal with Quinn?! Because if you pay more than 123 were offering then it seems like a pretty stupid decision!

Both quotes were identical. Why would I pay more?

    Identical to the cent?!

You could have said it cost the same, I think most people assumed 123.ie were the cheapest for you but because you had to wait you went with quinn and paid more. Also was the policy as good with quinn as 123?

Would you have waited for 123 if they were cheaper than quinn?

Yeah??? That's what happens when you ask someone to match someone else's price!

In the time it took you start this thread and reply, you probably could have saved more by waiting. 123.ie could have come down more than quinn direct.

123.ie are rife with hidden charges. The charge a €40 admin fee to do anything to your policy..

Since they cheanged to RSA aswell alot of people I know have left them.

True, people always have better uses of their time.

    What!!

Even the broker I was with years ago was only charging €7. Glad I didn't end up with 123.ie so!

I got a super quote with 123, however it took them 3 weeks to send out my certificate and disk. I must have rang them 6 times wondering what was up. Some of the people I spoke to there hadn't a clue what they were telling me. I wouldn't personally deal with 123 again because their customer service is sh!te.

I left Quinn and I regretted it even though they were a little more expensive.

Yep, had a month left on my policy and rang them to ask how much it would be to add Business cover till my renewal. She came back and said €40, i asked is this how much extra it will cost next year on top of my premium and she said no, thats how much we charge. I asked did they have to send a new disk or cert and she said no.. so it was for nothing. I wouldnt mind if it was a tenner or something.

The OH had to change her address on her policy and was hit with the €40 charge too. Robbers they are.

I stayed with them as my insurance was €570 with Travellers and €300 with RSA through 123.ie, no brainer really.

I compared the two in the past and the extras on the 123 policy well outnumbered the quinn. 123 were also 500 euro cheaper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,407 ✭✭✭G Luxel

I phoned them and was left waiting about a minute or so. Eventually a guy did answer the phone, asked loads of questions and when he asked about milleage, I gave him a figure over 40,000 and he said ''we dont offer cover'' so that was that, wouldnt recommend them..

123 does a call back service if u email them- that's what I did as I had no call credit.

Exactly, it's at the bottom of their quote page, and they usually call back within 30 min in my experience.

Good luck with your Quinn Anglo Irish Bank insurance policy OP.:D

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

I think the OP has a point, calling some places you can be put on hold for ages, was on for 10 minutes recently to a bank, if they give no indication of how long you will have to wait then why dont they just Q your number and call you in rotation? Although I know one place that asks for your number but then never bothers to call back??
I think a lot of people have better things to be doing than calling and then being kept on hold without knowing how long it will be for, especially if you need to call from a Pay as u go mobile.
seems they should realise they might lose business over this.

I shopped around and found 123.ie were the cheapest, saved 150 euro off my old insurer. Signed up online , whole thing done in 5 minutes. Who needs to ring to sign up?. In the time the OP spent here he'd have signed up online.

Now I have a problem with that. Why did you phone up to buy? You could have bought on the interwebs, no?

When you get a quote online with 123.ie and you don't take it there and then, you have to go to the hassle of filling out all your details online again if you decide to go for it at a later date. This is a likely scenario if you are shopping around (and another doh! for 123.ie -- I should be charging them at this stage!)

Did you try other insurers too? Usually at some stages in your driving career your insurance premiums plummet anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭Senna

Couldn't believe the cost of renewals this year. Quinn was €590, alizance €500, brokers €510-€570. Got the same cover with 123 for €340. Cant say i waited long when i called them, but i do remember there being a lot of noise in the call centre background and i could hardly hear the girl on the phone.
