Orthotics taken to a whole new level

Just recieved the following text from a local clinic
Do you suffer from back pain, knee pain, hip pain or heel pain. prescription orthotics could be the answer. Contact XX clinic on (not gonna give them satisfaction of publicity by giving contact details)

This bugged me because it reaffirms the notion that many physio's are way too quick to prescribe orthotics and see it as a money making scheme.

I wear orthotics myself (not saying they cured injury woes but rather body has become used to them at this stage so dont wanna create increased injury risk by changing things now) but I would not recommend them for everyone and mass advertisement like this makes me question the validity of these as solution rather than physio's just using them to make money

I got a very similar email from physio.

Have orthodics from them but considering it took them 4 months of weekly visits to diagnose that I had a misaligned ankle (subtalar sublaxation ) I'm not quite sure I trust them!

Its a bit disheartening to see them plugging orthodics like this - you would hope that they don't just prescribe them as a default catch all treatment / cash generator!
