So the iphone 3gs got a drop there 2 days ago it had a hard case on it but it seems to have still gotten damaged,

The home button does not work, the sound/speaker won’t work, & now the mic has stopped.

If I put a bit of pressure in the l/h bottom corner of the phone, the sound works & so does the home button.

I am wondering if anyone had this problem* & opened up theirs and it was maybe just a wire that came off?

Should I bother with one of those iphone “opening kits” ?

I had the problem where I couldn't hear in the earpiece. I could only hear on loudspeaker you could be lucky open up the phone disconnect the cables and reconnect them and find it fixes them. They may have come loose.

Watch a youtube video which will show you what to do or download this guide for free : http://www.servicemanualvault.com/00free00/Apple-iPhone-3GS-Service-Guide-0421.zip. I would recommend the use of both the guide and youtube. Watch and read the instructions a few times before you start to familiarise yourself with the phone.

Warning be careful don't get me wrong they are delicate ( I damaged my lcd when replacing the digitiser so be careful) make sure you have the right tools before you start you dont have an iphone half disassembled and realise you need some tool also be careful with screws they are tiny, I use a clear glass ashtray to store when working on the phone. ( I've lost some before luckily they are available on ebay at a very reasonable price)

    Recommended tools:

    Precision Screwdrivers
    Suction Cup
    Plastic Pry tools

A toolkit of ebay will do the job but I find the screwdrivers that come with don't work well and a set of precision screwdrivers from the €2 shop are worthwhile having.

I found these have been very good for parts so far:

    Good Luck
