    http://www.macrumors.com/2011/05/06/apple-to-move-from-intel-to-arm-processors-in-future-laptops/

If this is true does this mean the end of the bootcamp etc.?

If so, I'll be moving back to a windows laptop. I enjoy OSx for internet browsing but windows is essential for me to work efficiently. Having had a macbook for a few years, this hasn't changed for me.

If the choice in 2/3 years when I'm in the market for a new laptop is Windows or OSx, I'm afraid I'd still go with Windows.

Windows will also support ARM so that wouldn't make a difference. It will still work on any ARM based OSX machine if they were to migrate to that architecture

    And the other headline is:
Apple to move from ARM to Intel for the next-gen iPhone.

    I am confus :D

Yeah, MS announced a while ago that Windows 8 will support ARM. Anyway I find this rumour very hard to believe. Source isn't exactly credidible and MR will report anything now days. I find it more likely that Apple are doing some early development on a ARM version of OS X just in case ARM catches up with x86 down the road. They were developing the Intel version of OS X for years before it was released.

Or just wait for Windows 8 to come out which will support ARM.

Curious what it is on the windows end you use. I haven't had to boot up windows in a long time.

ARM isn’t all that great. Yes, it consumes less energy and has become increasingly popular among tablet computers and smart phones. However what most don’t know about ARM is that it’s 32bit, meaning that it can only support a max of 4GB of ram.

Not great for apples "power" users.

Wait and see what intel can offer on 22nm node regarding low power consumption etc.

I think this is a red herring

ARM are working on 64bit architecture, and iirc that is what the rumours are saying Apple are thinking of moving to. I think it is a done deal that Apple would be looking into a switch to ARM, as well as AMD, as well as working with Intel on improving their stuff. Any major company in Apple's line of business would be fools not to be looking at all options constantly, and Apple clearly doesn't have many fools working for it at the moment! Whether or not that ever leads to a shift to any of those options remains to be seen.

This is never gonna happen. Just imagine, the new MacBook Pros, with ARM! 2005 performance, 2014 prices. Be still my heart. :pac: Intel completely beat everyone in the performance space, and the switch to 22nm manufacturing means they'll finally get x86 to near ARM levels of power consumption.
