    Hi all,

Just a quick question, going to get a new crown on my front tooth today (replacing an old one), taking the shape and mould today and then the fitting in two weeks, will i have a replacement one until then or how does it work?

Is it always 2 weeks in between? would like to get it finished asap.

    Thanks

Crowns are indirect restorations meaning that they are made in a laboratory and cemented to the tooth in the mouth.

After the impressions are made they are sent to the lab and the crown constructed. Making a crown involves many steps and a fair bit of art. Usually it take a good working week or two for the crown to be ready. You come back and the crown is tried in and checked for fit, bite, colour etc and if your happy its cemented into your mouth.

Sometimes a crown can be made more quickly but in general it take a few weeks.
