Was watching footage of the midlands correspondant . Kieran Milloudy i think, who was standing outside Elan in Athlone when I noticed the traffic was driving on the right side, ala continental. So I rewound on sky plus which confirmed this . Anyone see this , or can someone enlighten me.

It's a raised road on an embankment as it passes Elan, you're mixing it up somehow as you didn't see both lanes

They drive on the right side in Athlone.

It also has a different currency & time zone.

    Strange place.

Maybe they flipped the image for whatever reason?

Was there any text (signs, clear number plates etc) that would give it away?

It's on the TV so everything appears as opposite.. like when you look in a mirror.. black is east, up is white..

I worked in maintanence at Elan and looking at the road you would get that impression from a distance.

People in Westmeath don't know which way traffic goes outside the motorway.....Westmeath being a bypass county and all!

Have to get the voice right too though. Stick him and Rebecca black together and who knows what might happen  He also couldn't pronounce élan.

There's nothing weird about the roads - just took a peek at the video on RTE player, looks like it's been flipped alright, the élan sign is backwards.

Sounds like the magic road in father ted, where unattended wheelchairs roll up the hill!:D

Its probably a one way system for traffic coming from the left of the image. Industrial areas can sometimes have strange road/lane set ups that cause newbies to go round in circles for 10 mins before finally understanding where they need to turn (and which direction)

It was, until the locals ate them.

I looked at 6:1 on the player but that part of the report seems to be missing we only see Ciaran Mulloooooooooooooly, I also checked google earth and I can see no one way system around Elan.
