One of my clients is involved in imports (primarily China) and exports of clothing (world wide)

They are looking at arranging Letters of Credit for their imports from China. As I am sure you are aware, traditional finance for L/C’s through the Irish Banks is virtually impossible. The client is now looking at a number of trade specialists that offer Letters of Credits, but to be honest, I am not 100% sure as to the credibility of some of the companies offering services.

Is there abybody in this group with experience of Letters of Credit / Business Finance Support that can make suggestions or provide contacts / recommendations of companies that can provide assistance ? The current L/C’s he is looking at are in the region of Us$ 500K. Also, how could they perform due diligence to ensure that they are placing the business with reputable companies ?

    Any suggestions or recommendations welcome

    Cheers,
