Only 31 planes there, average of 250 pax per plane, that's just 7,500 people

Thank for the information westdub. It would be a great day for spotting. I just wonder what the parking arrangement for the day. Would they use the remote apron or use one of the runway 16/34 or the other short runway next to pier d .

"Dublin Airport expects to handle in the region of 100 extra charter flights specific to the UEFA travelling fans, whom number in the region of 25,000 passengers.
There will not be any provisions made for visiting plane spotters. The outer perimeter road will be used extensively during the event to transport travelling supporters to and from their bus transport in the Blue car park, therefore we would not encourage increased activity from cars stopping to view aircraft."

Are they outbound times towards the end of that? Not going to be great for the cities hotels/bars/restaurants if there's a few thousand of the travelling fans buggering off home the same night!

The plan is for all the charters to arrive after which they will be towed of stand and parked on Rwy16/34 and on part of the old 11/29.When the last scheduled traffic lands that night, all aircraft will be towed off stand and the charters back onto stand...they then have until circa 04:30/05;00 to depart in order for the regular EI/FR to be towed back on stand for the first rotation in the morning. Obviously it is a logistical nightmare with limited tug availabilty and should a significant crosswind develop 16/34 will be blocked...the forecasters better get it right! anyway, expect delays!!!

holy god. thats all i can say lol. 747/767s lol think i am working on those arrival times but i might see what i can do, the boss knows I have a ....um...fixation. Wish we had a decent viewing place like at Schipol. :( If you miss a parking space at the fence you are done for, even on a "normal" day.

Think you will get a lot more flights then the list above if 25,000 fans are coming.

    I heard a 100 charter flights.

There are probably quite a few coming on scheduled flights from other cities and also connecting flights via London or Paris etc.

I wonder have Irish Ferries or Stena line got in on the act, if they ran a charter ferry from Santander in Northern Spain to Dublin I wonder how long would the cruise take?

Pity it wasn't two teams from different countries it would have made things more interesting. Ryanair have jacked their prices well up I have also noted

Santander to Dublin 24-30hrs approx one way, and where would they get the ship from?

most, if not all the additional charters are leaving between 00:00 and 04:00 so the morning of 19th shouldnt be too bad. I'll be watching it all happen as doing cover from 00:00 to 07:30, hopefully no systems break

They'll be arriving in on Wednesday morning in the daylight but leaving under the cover of darkness on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. They should(all going to plan!!) be gone by sunrise on Thursday morning.

    Great photos Nilok.

On a seperate note I would have loved if Euro Atlantic had sent their L1011.

Some crowd out on the old airport road today. Could see visibly the numbers from T2. Even a few passengers remarked about all "the loonies" along the road!:D

    It has its advantages. :)

Enjoyed putting people right as to why the lads were all around the perimeter road and not just some random flash mob with cameras. Great to see such numbers out there today.

Well. There was a crowd in the "The Eating place". It was great to see the big crowds. The airport police didn't have a problem with the crowd in the restaurant.

Today was great for me to see all those rare sight and 40 new reg in my log.

Do anyone have any photo of today event.

Yes, well according to their website anyway she's still going, must say I was pleasently surprised when I checked last night as it must be a fuel guzzler, plus with more modern aircraft in the fleet now. I also imagine that parts must be hard to get.

    http://www.euroatlantic.pt/html/en_aircraft_lockheed_CS_TEB.asp

Flew on it to Lanzarote a few years ago, back in 04 / 05. It was flying a lot of sun charters out of Dublin that Summer and I remember it caused chaos on one occasion as it suffered a well publicised oil leak that delayed passengers 30 hours or something similar on a flight from Faro.

Joe Duffy was inundated with calls from irate Irish passengers stranded at Faro waiting for the aircraft to return from repair at Lisbon.

It was '03 and I was one of those passengers delayed out of Dub, not by 30 hours though, 16hrs I think it was and in fairness to Sunworld, they gave us a lot of vouchers for food/drink at the airport and then bussed us all the way to Citywest Hotel (I live beside it:rolleyes:) and put us up over night and fed us again.

I was surprised they left the road open as it was mentioned beforehand that it would be closed. There was a Garda van at the mound parking area at 03.15 that morning when i passed with 2 cops talking to a couple of people parked up there. Looked like they were being moved on. Maybe it wasn't aircraft spotting they were there for!:pac:

How did the exodus of the charters and the towing of the EI/FR onstand go earlier today?

    Haven't a clue,was off today.:)

I'll ask around tomorrow but i didn't hear of any problems. The volume of traffic was less than was originally envisaged so it should've been handy enough for them.

Suprisingly smoothly,16/34 was still closed today as there were still a few generators and spotlights left on it...should be all clear by tomorrow morning

XL Leisure Group in the UK went in to administration but other XL companies did not, including XL Airways France:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XL_Leisure_Group

Callsign XLF930M landed at Dublin, according to the following website it is operated by XL France:

Last I heard XL France was fully owned by an Icelandic investment bank called Straumur, but for obvious reasons this may have changed since the financial crisis.
