Office 2007 & Windows 7

I was shopping for a laptop today, was told by the sales guy that Office 2007 (Professional version) will not run/have issues on Windows 7 64 bit (Home Premium version).

He told me I will either have to upgrade to Office 2010 (can't at the minute) or I will have to purchase a 32 bit version of Windows 7 and install that. Seems a little odd to me that Windows 7 can't run a Microsoft application even if it is 32 bit. He kept telling me he was trained when I was a little skeptical!

Does anyone run these side by side? are there any issues?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sales guy was talking rubbish.

Probably best to keep away from him.

Thanks for the replies, I thought as much, especially when he kept mentioning extra software I would need! Cost him a sale, I walked in with money to spend, will spend it elsewhere now!

    +1

Sales guy doing what they do best, talking ***** and selling you stuff you don't need. I've been running Windows 7 64bit since it was launched here and installed Office 2007 at the same time, haven't had any issues with any of the office apps.

What store did you go to ?

Im in sales too, but at least I know and can tell you 2007 and 2010 work with Windows 7. Earlier versions (2003, etc) do not run/are not supported officially. The OS Version (Starter, Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise, etc) has no correlation to the version of Office that will run (Home and Student, Home and Business, Professional, etc).

Pisses me off when people lie to sell. I thoroughly enjoy not having to lie to sell.

Salesman might have been right, sort off , afaik there is still ONE issue with MS Office 2007 Professional and Windows 7 64Bit versions and that is the "printer" driver for One Note 2007 doesn't work. I use One Note all the time for making copies of online bills as I pay them rather than printing them out, and found a know issue with this in 64Bit version of Windows 7 so for may main PC stuck with the 32Bit version.

So having said that I've now got to see if there's been a fix since I last looked :(

Actually the earlier versions do work but not officially supported. I have 2003, 2007 and 2010 running on a test laptop of mine.

Might work as a clean install going upwards from 2003 but after an existing OEM install of 2007 there is no way I could get Outlook 2003 from the Office 2003 suit working on Windows 7 Home Primium 64Bit.

Yes, there was a problem with Outlook. Can't remember the fix for it.

    Sorry
