    Hi guys,

Sorry about this probably silly question but I haven't much of a clue when it comes to computers.
The problem is my laptop won't let me use google or any other search engine, or so it seems. I can type in a web address and it'll be grand but if I try to go to google to search something it won't let me!!! It's not just google I've tried bing and a few others too.
    Thanks in advance

A mate of mine had a simular problem a while back and i think it was a result of a virus

Are you running Internet Explorer or Firefox?

Also do you have anything like Malwarebytes installed on your system? Or even Windows Defender?

    thanks for quick reply busyliving

i'm not sure about malwarebytes or windows defender but i'm using internet explorer alright - is firefox better? is it just a case of going to firefox.com and following instructions from there?

Hey mate, as I said I have come across this problem before and was able to fix it but I can't find my solution...But I may have a potential solution for you here

Its very long winded I know but it should work for you, if the your unable to access the link...Boot your computer in safe mode with networking and then try the link again.

If you can understand what to do after reading the information on the link provided I’ll try and simplify it for you...it’s just it’s very late here (2 in the morning) and I’m kind of tired:p

Does it take you to a different search engine?

I would highly recommend downloading Search and Destroy and malwarebytes, but I would definitely ask on the forum aswell :)
