NCT Question

Just a quick question if anyone could help.

My car, a Mazda 6, is in for the NCT in the morning, should go ok but the light on the spoiler isn't working, all other lights are fine. Had it in the mazda garage but they weren't able to replace the bulb (bulb is inaccessible for some reason, think they said screws were rusted).

Anyway someone told me that I can just put tape over the spoiler light and the NCT tester will consider that light as out of use, because its a spoiler light its just seen as a cosmetic one.

Is this true? If this info isn't right is there anything else I can do?

Thanks in advance for all answers.

Is the spoiler light the third brake light or is that a separate light cluster somewhere else?

If it's not the third brake light then it will not be considered on the test, just tape over it.

Sorry for bumping this, but i have to take my Micra to the NCT on thurs, but the center brake light in the rear window dosnt work.

I replaced the bulb and no joy, will i fail even tho the 2 standard left and right brake lights work fine.

Would i be best to remove the light totally?

fairly sure if the light is there or there's a place for the third brake light then it has to be operational, it doesn't be to hard to fix, make sure the bulb is making good connection otherwise you'll have to get the multimeter out to see if there's power getting ther

Yes that light would be consider a test item as its a original part that came with the car,,so therfore if its on the car it has to work,,,,,,but as you said if you remove it,,then it cant be tested,,,,but if its there it has to work,,,same with spot/fog lights,,,if there on it they have to work...

Ill give it another fiddle tomorrow, dont have a multimeter tho.

If i cant get it going ill probably just take the whole thing off and tape up the wires, would hop i wont fail over this. Thanks for the advice.
