Very handy and convienient but much shorter range than an other WiFi device I've ever used.

Hmmmm 5 people? Apart from bandwidth issues if you all want to connect at the same time you'll all have to be sitting in the same room if your just connecting via WiFi.

I wouldn't connect 5 users to a single 3G connection, that's just asking for trouble. The range tends to be reduced using the mobile routers, but not by that much. Perhaps if you had 5 users on it, the range would be less, but mine works across rooms and floors of the house, to about 20m.

thanks for the replies, i wasnt planning on connecting 5 devices, probably a max of 3 one of them an ipod touch.

how exactly do they work compared to the other simpler mobile dongles. do they have a lan connection?

do they connect directly to one pc or are the independent with just a power supply.

You can use them as a normal dongle if u so wanted, but normally you power it from a mains charger or a usb port, just switch it on and your devices connect wirelessly.
