Anyone know of websites that introduce you into astro-photography? I'm talking from the basics of pointing a long lens at the sky and snapping a shot, all the way up to dedicated gear costing more than a pro-sports tog would spend on their equipment.

I have no cash for this kind of thing (beyond pointing a DSLR at the sky) but I figure a bit of window shopping for when I win the Euromillions isn't going to hurt. ;)

Also, any personal experiences and photos would be great.

Steve Roche in Waterford does some great astro photography. He lives in the same estate as myself and has his shots on flickr. Look up wellbuttie on Flickr and you can ask him any questions there.

    Hi,

I put up a couple of parts on my blog about astro photography.
    http://dankingphotos.wordpress.com/astro-photography/
My approach was to document my experience and the outputs from a couple of outings.
At the end of part 2 there are some links to some excellent information, how-to's and video's.

It's great fun when we get the weather for it :)
