trying to get a 7ft bucket for the tractor. cubic yard size.
talked to rossmore and prodig and they recon their 7ft is too big for 85-90hp tractor. but that is their off the shelf items.

Local machinery dealer will be making an enquiry with R&M
Have talked briefly to Tighe and he said he'd make his standard bucket but smaller. but i wasn't filled with confidence.

Just wondering can any1 think of someone that will make one in the cork area?
Have heard of a fellow in innishannon (jim connelly) who does lots of fabrication on trailers etc. ring any bells. any1 know how to find him?

any other blacksmith types that would have the equipment/knowledge to build the 'right' thing?

    cheers

what sort of a price were you quoted. Local joes wont be able to either match quality or price of the serious outfits as understandable. Try a AGCO dealer or someone selling the Quicke range of loaders, or ring farmhand in dublin. you maybe surprise on the price

went about making a five foot bucket last year ,paid 695 inc vat for a rossmore bucked with an 8 inch blade the materials alone came very close to that price and i would have had to get the steel folded and was going to mig weld it myself would have taken the guts of a day to put together definetly would not pay to make one , find the rossmore bucket very good it gets plenty of hardship ,7 foot bucket would put serious pressure on the loader if lifting heavy materials and you would want a big tractor under it

def tractor would be well on top on a 5ft. but i think i'd be regretting it come winter when i want to clean out the calving yard and the feed fence.
going to talk to a neighbour whom would be very knowledgeable about machinery. i'll see if he also tries to talk me out of it.

What will you be lifting, what tractor and what loader? I would prefer a deeper bucket so not to dropping stuff, remember you don't have to fill it if working with heavy stuff.

My neighbour has a 6' Prodig on his 390t, it only holds 250kg of maize, round bales are upto 700kgs. I agree get one the width of the tractor, his is a bit narrow making it awkward for cleaning

its a 1996 mf6140. not a common tractor so thats why i've not bothered mentioning make/model. bit heavier than a 390t. maybe a bit smaller than a NH ts90 but not by much.

cleaning out calving yard, strawy muck
    cleaning out feed fence
    lifting cut logs into trailer.
loading muck. (only spread it every 2/3years, would save the contractor having to bring his jcb or me takeing tines off stone fork... horrible job)
if we ever get a meal silo be very handy for hauling to troughs.
small project on at the moment to spread a bit of dirt/gravel to level off a laneway. projects like this would rare.

this is a small stock farm so use will be lite.

i do have a very big counter weight for heavy tasks like when picking boulders from ploughed ground with a 1.5m stone fork. (what a relief to see that field going back to grass!!!)

Have a 7ft wide rossmore bucket on a 95 hp tractor all you need is a good counter weight suits the tractor fine would recomend rossmore bucket with heavy duty blade ideal for cleaning yards or loading muck
