Yep, psych studies. Happiest day of my summer getting that letter :)

You going for denominated or psych studies?

psych studies. want to keep my options open ;) just in case i hate it :p
    oh its a letter.fancy :D
how do you find the course? what other subject do you do with it?

It's been going mostly fine. Could do with a few adjustments, like every course really. There'll probably be slight changes from year to year so your experience might be different.

I'm doing Soc & Pol as well. It's ok, nothing to write home about. Psychology is where my main interest is.

yeh its not the most interesting subject i must say. fair play for keeping it on though! no hope i'm keeping that :D its nice to study something new in 1st year but jeez 3 years of that....good luck with it :P

is the test another mcq or is it a proper test?

I don't remember any MCQs in 1st year, aside from Economics. One Soc & Pol module exam was part MCQ this year, and one part of one of the Psychology modules was too, but that's it, the rest are standard essay-type exams.

the whole of 1st year psychology exams were MCQ's this year. the only essays that we had to do were the assignments. that kind of sucks :(

Wow. Lots has changed. We had short-answer questions in first year, but no MCQs. Had 2 essays and 2 lab reports then as well. They do seem to be changing the format quite often!

yeh we had the 2 essays and 2 lab reports aswell. i did well enough in them but i dont think i would be able to repeat that in an exam situation. think the mcq kind screws you though. think you are better then you might be because you can guess and still get it right !

@Western night, Can you remember what the cut off point (marks wise) for Denominated Psychology and Psychological studies was last year? I am in first year in Galway and am also hoping to do it next year :) v.annoying how long they are making us wait to find out! :/

at least they arent making us wait until july or august!!! i think Kiran Sarma said it was in an around the 60's mark for psychological studies. i think it was around 68/69 for denominated psychology.

It ended up being 63 and 79 last year. But it'll change every year as it's relative to how everyone else did.
