    Hi Guys,
Not sure where to put this, but seeing as politicians announced it I said I'd try here....

The Tus Scheme was announced around the turn of the year, a scheme whereby unemployed persons would be asked to carry out work for charities, local groups in their community, sports clubs etc.

Just checking if anyone has been placed on a Tus scheme anywhere.

It was supposed to be rolled out from end of January, I'm involved with my local soccer club and have been contacting the local development company regularly for updates but there hasnt been anything yet.

    Anyone else have any success?

I didnt think the jobs section was suitable for this as you wouldnt really be applying for or getting a job.

    Thanks
    A Country Voice

    Hi Country Voice
Not sure what location you are living in, but if you check out the KildareLeader Partnership website it will give you info on the TUS programme. If your not from Kildare perhaps they will give you a contact person for another county.

I know there is certain criterias for your application to be acceptable
ie claiming social welfare ( i think for 1 year )

I also know that the Leinster Leader did advertise for applicants recently.

    Best of luck
Its a great initiative to gain experience working in non profit and community organisations.

    Hi thanks for the reply.
What I'm wondering is has anyone actually been appointed to do work yet?
All the local development companies have various statements saying the same thing.........it'll be rolled out during 2011 etc etc, I've been contacting the local development company regularly but just get told the same thing each time.
I'm not unemployed, I'm coming from the local voluntary groups angle.

    Hi Dani

Im not sure where to put this post, but I got my interview today and the outcome was very good and positive. I just have to wait 3 weeks before i know anything.

There are 2 basic things I need to know.

    1) what is the difference between TUS and the FAS National Internship.

    2) Seeing the hours are flexible with TUS, could you do both schemes??

    Hope to hear from you

More info about this up on the Pobal website. It sounds like it will be good if done correctly. Career guidance and support will be given participants throughout the placement also.
