    hi

im just looking to get other peoples opinion on my situation.

i have a job but i'm looking to change it. i recently applied for a position with another company. the company has a reputation for having high standards and a long recruitment process, i dont mind this and kind of admire it.

i did a number of interviews and they went well. it has come to the stage were they are looking for my references. they require 2 post graduate references.

ive worked for 3 companys since i left college, this includes the company i work for now. one of the places i worked for i have recently found out has closed down. in the other company my supervisor has left and hr will only give out references detailing the time frame i worked there, they will not give out any of my duties or how i got on there (i got on well and got a very good reference off my supervisor there before).

now i cant use my current employer as a reference nor can i track down my old supervisor or anyone from the company that has closed down.

i did do a work placement during college for 9 months and have a good reference from there which my potential employer will accept. they will not accept the reference that only details the time frame i worked in that company.

does anyone have any advice or comments on this?
