Immersion stopped working.

    Hi all,
we have a timer box in our hotpress from which we can put our immersion onto timer or set it to 'on' or 'off'. Last night we tried putting the immersion on but no light came on to indicate that it was working. We had to turn on our gas boiler so that we had hot water for our kids' bath time.
We have two other boxes connected onto the pipes in the hot press. The lights on these came on when the gas boiler was turned on and the water heated it fine. The box nearest the front of the hot press is set to 'auto' but has a 'manual override' setting also.
Can anyone here let me know if it's just the timer box on the inside wall that needs to be replaced or repaired? What kind of problems could it have or is this a much bigger job?

it sounds like its just the timer that is gone. The valves that the lights came on are to do with your central heating and not your immersion.Check and see if the timer is giving out a voltage when its switched on. If not then u know its defo the timer... Hope it helps...

Yep, you're right. My husband had a proper look at it yesterday evening. He disconnected the timer and reconnected the cables back to the regualar basic switches. The immersion worked fine. We just need to replace the unit. It's about 8 years old now, so I guess it's done its fair share of work.
