Damaged Skim Ceiling

Having had the house just finished plastering, I (stupidly) dropped a board in the attic and damaged the ceiling below.
How is the best way to repair this so that the ceiling will be flush and no shadows will be seen when painted?
I had though of cutting out damaged area and replacing replacing plasterboard then re-skim whole room (ie not just the new board) so that it is even? Is this the best soution and will it work?

Have you broken through completely, any pics?
full reskim sounds nuts...any plasterer worth there salt can patch the area for you. you might not even need to go that far, if you have just pushed down the ceiling board, you might get away with counter battoning it on the attic side to rafters and then screwing into this with drywall screw, then cauke screws..maybe..need to see the damage though first

Thanks tred... plasterer says he should be able to patch. Will try to get some photos also.
