Hats in nightclubs...

Anyone notice the new phenomena of hat wearing when out at night, in pubs/clubs? Ok I like a hat (as in one), it looks alright I suppose, but when you have a bunch of friends of either sex wearing these hats in a group, does it not look a bit .. ridiculous? I actually am starting to find it funny seeing 5 lads, all bunched up together in a club, all wearing hats thinking they are gods gift :D

I like them hats! I'd wear one to a pub for a few quiet one's but not if it was gonna be a rager. Hassle!!

I probably sound stupid and old fashioned but I don't think people should wear hats indoors. I dunno why though! :pac:

I pulled the hat off "the edge" one night in the kitchen, maybe he was on to something.

I actually agree i think wearing hats in a bar/club those look a bit too much.

If your a model maybe it could work but other than that it just looks a bit ridiculous

I think hats are fine, loooks ridiculous if there's a whole group of people wearing them though!

Hats are (or should be) a thing of elegance.
Etiquete says you should not wear your hat indoors but as there are few if any cloakrooms and hat-checking is no more then people wear their hats to safeguard them. Hats are a target for every drunken numbskull to aquire as a trophy of the night out.

Unless it's part of a Halloween costume, a hat in a club is the calling card of a tosspot..

I would akin it to wearing sunglasses in a club..

I had two people on my last flight who wore hats all the way through (11 hours). It kinda annoyed me, it looked stupid and affected. To me, it gives off an "I think I'm so cool" vibe.

I always take my hat off indoors, its how its done. I'd never wear one to a nightclub though, its bad enough getting heckled by drunks on the street who try to grab it from my head (when I was wearing a turban hairband around Xmas, a drunk guy on the street jeered to his friends and actually struck my arm).

I don't understand why people in groups are wearing them though, some sort of secret society? I doubt it though, sounds too exciting.

This is true. I love hats, used to wear them all the time til I cut my hair short and hats started to look silly on me. (sniff!)
Anyway, I wore this trilby-type hat to a Boards Beerz and in the pictures for that night, my hat shows up on about 5-10 different heads. I kept spotting my hat all over boards/facebook for weeks!

    My poor hat..

I used to wear a fedora out, but it became too much hassle with "bubbly" larey women taking it off my head thinking it was just hilarious to do so.

What about wearing beanie hats indoors?

What about wearing beanie hats indoors?

D4 Jocks in canterbury gear immediately springs to mind i.e. knobs.

Depends on the hat, and the event.

Etiquette does suggest that they shouldn't be worn indoors, but then that comes from a time when wearing hats was the norm. Nowadays they're a style accessory.

Something like a Trilby can look a bit excessive and attention seeking unless you're at a themed night-out, but something like say... a flat cap, is more relaxed looking.

Hats indoors seem pointless to me. However, in my teenage years I was known for wearing baseball caps constantly. I just liked them, they give you a certain level of comfort.

But in a club/pub in a group... all wearing hats..... fashion fail!! :D

Hats in clubs are a tad ridiculous. So we might as well go all the way and await the return of the stove-pipe hat! The club sensation of 2012
