Driver door not locking, electric windows not working

Hey,
I borrowed a friends 2002 520 BMW for a long drive yesterday (~350 miles). I returned it last night and there didn't seem to be any problems, he parked it in his car park and locked it up without hassle.

Unfortunately today there seems to be a fault with the electrics. The door won't lock using the key, the windows won't operate and the electric mirrors won't work either.

Any ideas what this could be?

Have a look at the wires going from the drivers door to the body of the car, see if anything looks strange.

That's a lot of faults in different systems. Did you check to see if the harness was cut between the door and body of the car? I'm not sure if its possible to cut these on this model.

Check to see has someone put a hacksaw blade into the little gap between the front door and the wing and cut the wiring loom attached to the door in an attempt to short out the door lock and break into the car.
