    Hello,
I plan to re-config my house downstairs by switching the lounge to the front of the house, there is an existing gas fire in the old lounge location. Are electric fires much more expensive to run? do I need just a socket or heavy cabling like a cooker connection?

I had one before and changed to open fire, it was just a standard plug. I never really used, I checked the meter to see how the little line was going around, turned it on and it was flying around then. Not sure if the newer ones are any different but I have always heard they are very expensive to run
