Filtering the Flat Races/ Maximizing an each-way bet

I apologise if I haven't put this post in the right place, I'm new to this great forum. Here's my problem: I love putting e/w bets on flat races, but because I'm relatively new to horse betting;), I find that the more horses in a race, the worse my chances are in winning a e/w bet.

What should be the maximum amount of horses in any particular race to enchance the chances of winning an e/w bet?

AND is there any way I can filter a race (online) so I can see only the races with a certain number I specified? Ex. I only want to see races with 10 horses, and the filter shows me those races for the day.

Also could anyone suggest what the most straightforward track for flat racing is in UK/Ireland?

    Many Thanks, Cath

You want a max of 5 runners for 2 places, 8 runners for 3 places or 16 for 4 places. I would suggest thought that the more runners the better the price. If you see a big race on Saturday (sprints usually) you will get 5 places with certain bookies. Alot of these races are priced up with a 7-1/8-1 favourite. At these prices you could look at picking 3 against the field and still have a good chance of winning.

Not sure how you can filter races through betting sites.

However if you click on attheraces on a given day it will show the meetings down the side and if you click on the meeting you will see the distance and number of runners in each race.

Not sure how you mean most straightforward. The best thing about Irish/UK is that so many tracks are compeletly different as opposed to the US where majority of tracks are the exact same. Certain horses will act well around places like Chester/Epsom in England or Galway in Ireland while other horses wont due to the undulations. The big tracks attract the best runners (Ascot, Newmarket, Lepoardtown, Naas) and these tend to be the most "straighforward" tracks.
