Any Tri heads planning on doing the Wicklow 200 / 100 cycle?

I'm hoping to do it myself. Reminder below from the organisers:

"Only a matter of weeks now to the June 12th and the Wicklow 200/100.

Some reminders of what to expect on the day.
There will be 2 stops on the 200 route Donard and Rathdrum, and 1 on the 100 route, Rathdrum, where refreshments will be provided. Tea/ coffee and a sandwich will be free to participants.
These may or may not be sufficient for you so if you have any other needs best to bring something with you.

Event start is at Shoreline Leisure in Greystones, NOT Bray where some people went last year.
Please check website for exact location.

Don't forget entries close on May 22nd."

I'm in - and absolutely cacking it.

Bike training in general has been terrible this year, so I'll be purely getting through it based on experience...

Yeah - I can see by the S/B/R thread that you've hardly sat on a bike this year. ;) Those 3000+km don't really count for much!

I, on the other hand, with a solid 1400km training base behind me  will be relying on brute force and ignorance once again.
My first time to do it so it'll be a matter of survival rather than style.

    You are young, grasshopper....:)

Sitting on the turbo working my way through the entire war movie collection looks good for the S/C/R, but of SFA benefit when I hit the Slieve Maan/Shay Elliott double after 130km.

Thankfully the granny ring is primed and ready to go!

How easy is it to get to the start area and parked, set up, etc i.e. what time would I need to be hitting Greystones at and will I be able to park close to the start? Do you have to pay for parking?

There is limited parking at Shoreline, but there is a big (free) car park just behind, so no issue there. Start is very casual, (i.e. people head off whenever they want) - register and go.

Not as flat as Limerick  They'd hardly expect you to cycle 200km AND have hills en route as well would they? :D

Would it mad to do this in Tri shorts?

Grand, so I won't be the only one :D. I did my cold weather cycling with a well cushioned long bib but my only cycling shorts are tri ones. I was considering getting a 'proper' pair of cycling shorts but I've survived without them so far on up to 5 hr spins.
