Nothing displaying on my HTC Desire screen

I have posted a message on the talk to 3 forum but havnt gotten a reply so thought I would post it here.

I got up this morning to find that my the screen on my HTC Desire is not working. I used it last night before I went to bed to set the alarm and then put it on my locker. This morning I thought the battery was dead as the screen was blank and nothing was happening when I went to turn it on.

I then discovered that there was a fainter black colour (if that makes sense) on about a third of the phone so it seem during the night the display went funny. The phone definately did not fall on the ground and I am 100% sure of that as I was the only one in the house last night so Im not sure what happened.

I am with Three so was just wondering if anybody had any experience with something like this happening and if so what was the cost to get the phone fixed? Do HTC Desire screens tend to stop working suddenly? I have the phone 7 months.

    Thanks

Have you completely removed the battery and reinserted it?

Does anything appear if you hold down the down part of the volume key on the volume rocker while turning the phone on?

No, nothing. There is no a faint white line running down the middle of the screen but otherwise it is black. I went into the 3 store in Henry St who sent me to their phone repair shop in the arcade. The guy thinks that the LCD screen is broken. Not sure how that happened if I didnt let it fall.

Anyway he said he would have to send it away to be repaired and could take up to 3 weeks  I asked him if he had a spare phone I could use in the mean time and he said no. He sent me back to the 3 store but they dont have any either. They told me that I would have to ring customer service and they MIGHT be able to help me. I dont think the assistant appreciated me saying that I would prob be as long waiting for a phone to be sent from customer service in India.

Im going to have to see if any of my friends/family have an unlocked 3G mobile that I can use before I get it sent off for repair. I had to go looking for a pay phone in town earlier and it was an experience. Eventually found one in the GPO
