I'm looking for someone to help me with 3rd year Civil structures (maybe 2 or 3 hours should do). Hopefully someone will be available as there is no Civil jobs out there ;)
I am returning to college after a couple of years out and finding it hard to pick up where I left off.
Based in Dundrum, can travel - please PM for details.

What areas in particular are you looking at

It's a 'design of structures' module in ucd. Steel and reinforced concrete, beams, deflection, pad footing etc. The module description should be pretty easy to find on the ucd website (on my phone now - will link to it when I get home). Let me know if you are interested and I can send on past papers etc.

I wouldnt be able to help you but if others have more information they might be able to tell if they can help you

I did it....if you can't get anyone else, I suppose give me a shout but I'm very, very rusty on it. I did it before the module system came in...our lecturer was questionable (think he has since retired)

What exactly do you want help with? Everything?

Heh more or less I'm afraid - I'm resiting it as the exam was rescheduled last semester due to the snow and I was away for the new exam date so I'm rusty also. I don't think its meant to be too hard of a subject though.
It's impossible to find someone for a grind, the UCD grinds file is useless for Civils and I don't really know anywhere else to look. I may take you up on your offer if I don't get any joy?

have you asked people in your class for help?

    +1.

Em...are you looking for grinds to re-sit the exam in this summer session? Coz that's almost over you know, and if you "think it's not too hard"...that suggests you haven't looked at it and that worries me a bit!!!

Also try asking your lecturer and any postgrads in the labs about grinds. Purcell doesn't bite as far as I remember!

I don't know anyone in my class as I took two years out. I don't think it's a bad module as I probably would have passed it last time around had the exam not been moved but it.'s so long since lectures I was hoping to find someone to go through some past papers and stuff. Only asking here as I wasn't able to find anyone in college. Thanks anyway.

Oh right. Meant to suggest earlier aswell, there's a UCD forum under the "Edu" heading and I think that the there's a thread there for people who want/give grinds. Might be worth your while looking there too.

Get your hands on some eurocode, EC1-EC6 (college resoures) and online example. If you done structual a couple of year ago on the old BS standard you have your work cut out.

spend time at it and you'll get thought it.

Exam was this morning, thanks anyway. Think I got on ok. Anyone who is interested in giving grinds for Civil should get their details up on the ucd grinds file as there are no contacts for anything bar the purely maths subjects. Handy way to make 25+ euro an hour if you're not working or whatever.

Did things change much in between the codes? Is it easier to understand in the new ones? It was all BS when i was in college :pac:
