Fiesta cutting out, where to look?

Okay, firstly I've already posted this same question a few weeks back, so apologies for repeating myself. My 96 Fiesta 1.3 Endura passed the NCT the other day, much to my surprise and joy! But it is still cutting out. I took it for a drive and it just died waiting at the lights. I have changed the plugs, and I also removed and cleaned the Idle Speed Control Valve ( I only cleaned it cause I didnt know what else to do). Where should I look to next? Is it a case of replacing parts to rule stuff out? Would a diagnostic identify the problem? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Diagnostic test might be worth a go.I'd guess it might be an engine sensor.

1.3 pushrod engine have a narrow tube between the manifold and the injector
it carrys crankcase fumes it can clog up sometimes, worth checking too.

Does it start fine from cold, only act up once its warm maybe?

Yeah its starts on the button, and acts up when warm. Would that tube be hard to get to?

my girlfriends old ka (same engine) had this problem, cleaned the idle control valve and the problem continued, turns out it was the oxygen sensor. having said that if it was your oxygen sensor at fault then this would probably have shown up on your NCT emissions result.

How did you clean the idle control valve? this may still be the base of your problem.

Cleaned it with plenty of wd40, whats the story with the oxygen sensor, where is it and is a new one expensive?

The connecting tube isnt hard to get at. Popped off easily enough.
Have a check of a Haynes manual, i can't find a picture of one.
Trust me its fairly obvious, look at the manifold dead on and the injector itself.

As for an O2 sensor its also possible it could be at fault.
Changed one recently on a 99 Clio, cost €60 delievered off ebay.
Not a big job to change either. Good luck

(forgot to add O2 sensor is on your exhaust,if your gonna try it yourself, just crack/loosen
it off in one good go, most of them area size 24mm, some 22mm)
