HMV Selling Hip Hop Bootlegs

Does anyone know the inner workings of HMV and where they get their albums from? I'm only asking because their system is straight up awful. I was looking through 2Pac's section on Friday and it's full of internet DJ's mixtapes. For every genuine album there was about three fake ones. I even know someone who made a mixtape purely for datpiff and a while later saw being sold in HMV, with his DJ name photoshopped out of the cover he also made.

    Anyone ever noticed this before?

They have a lot of The Game's mixtapes on HMV Grafton Street, mostly unofficial. Same with Dr. Dre and, as you mentioned, Tupac. It's a bit odd alright, a lot of them have 'Import' stickers on them?

I have seen the same thing, mainly with Snoop Dogg mixtapes, in the old Golden Discs in Bray and a few HMV's around town. I haven't noticed it in other places.

They've been doing this for years. They always stick some wack label like zyxx or street dancemusic on it. It kinda started with the lost tapes and the here after from 2pac and other old stuff from dre and snoop and eventually went onto mixtapes etc.

ye its unreal, its not just hmv though most of them seem to be at it.

i mean there's mixtapes selling anywhere between 7 to 15 euro and the same ones are actually official free downloads on the web.

pulling a fast one is all there doing someone should report it, a lot of record shops go on about people downloading music illegally (rightfully so) because its effecting them so much but technically doing what they are doing with the mixtapes etc is the same in a way, they are robbing artists and fans out of money.
