Bathroom Fan wiring question

Hi folks, bit of a basic question, I've done a search but can't find the specific info I'm looking for.

I replaced a fan yesterday in the house with a slightly different model to the original one that was there.

The wiring coming for the ceiling is, I think:
    Brown (live)
    black (N)
    and grey (switched live)

Am i correct in my assumption there (didn't have a DVM to confirm)

The new fan has L,N & T connections.

I connected the Brown wire to the L, the Black to the N and the grey to the T (which I presume stands for Timed)

The fan comes on when the isolator switch is turned on but doesn't switch off after the bathroom light is turned off.

Should the Brown (Live) be connected to the L connection on the fan or the timed (T) connector?

Apologies for the basic question, I expected it to be fairly straight forward and the previous fan had no markings on the connections before I disconnected it.

    thanks for your help,

brown would probably be your permanent feed therefore it needs to go in the terminal marked T,the permanent is there so the fan stays on for a short period after you switched off at isolator

brown, black , grey?? what ever happened to blue for neutral and the phase and switch wire being the same colour. why are they use 3 phase colours for single phase wiring in your building?
