Windows 7: Cannot format drive

    Hi,

I have a 500gb drive which is split into 3 partitions:
    • C: Windows 7
    • D: Windows XP
    • E: A Media drive

I am now happy to format the D drive so that I can begin using it for storage within Windows 7. However, when I right click the D drive and click Format, it says it cannot do it. If I go into drive management, there is no option to delete it, I can only shrink it.

I'm guessing that this is because there's a dual boot option, and the drive contains one of these OS so it's protecting me from doing it.

Any ideas how to get around it?

    Thanks in advance :)
