    I have a TBS sat card in a Linux HTPC and it works fine.

    Price-wise, this is a single SAT card, dual dvb-s2 cards (that allows you to record & watch at the same time) are more expensive.

    Blackgold also do a card with dual dvb-s2 and dual dvb-t (4 tuners), which is perfect for Ireland, costs about €150 delivered.

    I just bought the TBS dual tuner card for a Linux PC.

    Will let you know how it goes ;)

    This replaces a sky box that was wasting me money :cool:

    I got the TBS 6981 working OK for SD Channels using this guide on Ubuntu 11.04.

    Building the linux drivers was a bit fiddly, but devices came up no problem and cards seem to work.

    However, when attempting a scan in mythtv-backend-setup using DVB-S2 I get no results. I switched back to a DVB-S scan and found all the channels, but when attempting to show the BBC-HD Channels the frontend complains about not getting a lock (I assume it is using DVB-S)

    Will try and work it out and post any result. Anyone else got this card working with MythTV for DVB-S2?

    If rescan is not getting channels, this worked for me.

    take a backup of table dtv_multiplex
    $ mysqldump -u root -p mythconverg dtv_multiplex > ~/dtv_multiplex.sql
    (enter password)

    update dtv_multiplex:
    Connect to database
    $ mysql -uroot -p
    (enter password)

    > use mythconverg ;

    > update dtv_multiplex set symbolrate = 23000000, fec = '8/9',
    mod_sys = 'DVB-S2' where frequency = 10847000 ;

    If still not working, try deleting BBC ONE HD and BBC HD and rescanning single transponder 10847000.

    I ended up getting that card. I've had no problems with it and am very happy with it on a windows MediaPortal machine. I've had the chance to see some other tuner cards (both Hauppage) and this seems to do things a lot faster.

    If you're having trouble tuning the DVB-S2 Channels I think it's because the BBC switched to an unused setting/destination/tuning that the software (MediaPortal for me) wasn't set up for. Basically, the BBC began using a better setting for their HD that people weren't ready for with their software. The hardware is perfectly capable of getting it once it's pointed in the right direction. You can manually edit in the details for the channels into the MediaPortal XML and it'll tune them in no problem. I presume it's the same with other software.
