Is there a reason why my local Omniplex is not showing some new release movies lately

Is there a problem with some of the movie distributors and Omniplex?

Our local cinema didnt release Scream 4, and ive noticed a few other movies that havent come in, but are being shown in the IMC in our neighbouring town?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Omniplex are Ward/Anderson and they want films very cheap from distributors and on ocassion they don't get some popular films. Ward/Anderson are stuck in the ways which are very out of date now they used to have a monopoly but over past decade or so other cinema chains have entered the Irish Market.

A few cinemas are also boycotting certain distributors. My local IMC didn't show Scream 4, had to go to Dundrum instead. Not sure what distributors are involved though, but it does happen from time to time.

Used to be a frequent thing in the IMC in Dundalk. They must have had a falling out with certain distributors because there were several big re;eased which just never appeared.

Yeah, i thought it must be due to some dispute alright. Oh well, will just have to wait for the dvd's i guess.

    Cheers for the replies.

It's alright, the cinema in Dundalk was a large selection of films,
for both the mindless and the thoughtless.

So, they are covering all bases.

Find it rather amusing that they put posters up for films they never get as well. (Need a facepalm smiley here really)

They don't know if they're getting the film until they don't get it and the posters arrive weeks, sometimes even months, in advance which is why they're on display.
