renting a car

    Hi. Need to rent out a car for a week but the problem is l don't have a credit card, only a laser card. What car rental company will accept laser cards?

    None I'd say. They usually block off about 1k on your credit card to pre-empt any accident damage. Hardly any are taking the new Visa Debit cards either.

    I was renting a car in Ireland twice (2005 and 2006) and in both cases they were happy with cash deposit (300 euros). No credit cards required.
    It was rented off Tim Hastings VW garrage in Westport - brand new Golf.

    Probably any bigger network car rental company like Hertz, Budget, Avis, etc will require credit card.

    county car rental based in dublin will requied a 1300 pre auth on your laser but will accept laser cards

    Enterprise accept Laser at least they did a few months ago..

    1300?! :eek: ill be renting in the states next week & they'll be taking just $250.
