Review: Lonex Flash Mags

Just ordered 2 of these last week and tried them out today.

A quick overview of what the mags are:

A lonex flash mag is a high cap M4 that instead of the normal winder at the bottom of the mag instead hides a rip cord. Basically put the rip cord 3-4 times, clip back the bottom of the mag, insert and fire till empty.
Below are two videos linked directly from manufacturer and ehobby.
The manufacturer one shows the advantages of firing of the mag while the ehobby shows the advantages of reloading it.
The M4 comes in a 360 round capacity while the AK style comes in a 500 round..
For DBOY, A&K, BOYI, VFC, CYMA, G&G, G&P, Matrix, Tokyo Marui, Classic Army, ICS, JG, ECHO1 and other compatible M4 / M16 / SCAR / FN2000 Series Airsoft AEG.

    So onto the review...
Normally I'd go a bottle of 3000 bbs in between 2-3 skirmishes so last week after buying 2 bags of 5000round G&G .2g bb it was safe to say I would be kept going for at least a few months. Until today when I tested these in my Mapul Sasada. (VFC High speed gears, G&P M120 motor etc, 11.1 lipo ready).
Unfortunately I forgot to fully charge the 11.1v which only lasted for 2 mags but it was able to feed the bbs fast enough to the gun and I did have to repull the rip cord once near the bottom of the mag. Which isn't bad at all considering the joys of having to use a normal high cap.
So back down to using a 7.4v lipo for the remained of the day.
Basically I found the mags are a joy to use, no more having to constantly wind the mag, just 3-4 pulls and the mag would keep firing until empty.
Darth Phoenix also tested these in his Tavor and I think it's safe to say....the man converted within seconds..;)
So after about 5 hours of gaming today I was extremely happy with the lonex flash mags, they work exactly as described and I can't fault them.
Be aware of a potential issue with TopTech AEGS...I read somewhere about this and also Decoy mentioned it to me.
So far they've worked perfectly in my masada and the Tavor and I will test them in my G&P M4 tomorrow.

Oh yeah...I went through about 6,000 bbs today
High cap fans are gonna love these...that's for sure :D

saw them in action today in tralee. not a high-cap fan myself but I can see the attraction. you can wind your mags a lot faster. The downside is all the lowbrow jokes about "pulling your wire":D

How much was the mag and do any of the limerick retailers supply them (midwest or airsoftguns.ie)?

Be careful the small knot in side the plastic piece you pull down can come undone and the line spins back up into the internals of the mag. Iv seen retailers sell the internals separate which leads me to think that there is a probability of failure.

They go "wwhirrrrr whiiirrrrrr whirrrr!!" so you can go "brap brap brap"
I want them just to pull the cable and hear the noise:o

    Nice review mate:)

yeah forgot to put the price up :)
I paid around €26 a mag...think they can be gotten cheaper on ebay but haven't seen them that much cheaper..
I purchased mine from airsofteire but Tony from Midwest is getting them in over the next few weeks.......

Happened to me after about 600 rounds. Cant seem to fix the damn thing either.

    Hey Sc@rcrow.
Thanks for the review. very useful. Will you do an update after a few 1000 rounds just to see how robust these things are?
    Cheers

I've got five(5) of these & there are a total of ten(10) of them on our team, agreed they cost an arm & leg to buy.

Once you've used them, you'll never go back as there's no winding or battery to charge unlike the Battleaxe or other types of winding mags.

Have had one fail on me while under fire recently & will be getting a replacement, that said I'd not go back to winding anytime soon :D

Like the Lonex mags (only have 2) Got pretty annoying "hearing" them at night games recently 1-2 people that had them kept feckin "yanking the chain" on them despite them not having fired a shot and making a racket.

What I've not seen and I've always been curious about is a Hi-Cap mag that
uses the P90 type of mechanism. They work on P90's why not apply the same
on a standard M4 mag, or use a combination of the wind key and P90 mech.

I got 2 of them 2 weeks ago and they are great. No more winding and no need to buy and electric Mag either as they are just as good and just as fast. Paid €28 in SG Airsoft.

picked one up a few weeks ago and used it for the first time on saturday. loved it. bloody helpful to be able to keep firing off BBS without having to wind your mag, great for laying down suppression fire
