    Explained the best if you ever see a site going down/up via FTP.

    You ftp to a site - highlight a folder (large one) and drag it to your desktop - in your case it downloads at 6.97Mbps (or .87 Megabytes per second or 871.25 KB/sec).

    Then if you upload the same folder the speed is greatly reduced in this case. You will be uploading at .0315Megabytes per second or 31.25 KB/sec (aka Modem speed!)
