While playing in a foursomes comp today in Rathcore on the 2nd hole I drove off leaving my playing partner (Thoscon on here) on the fairway 155 to the pin , he nailed a 7iron sweetly , ball hopped twice rolled and settled in the cup.

Just wondering wud it be right to call it his first eagle ?? You thoughts pls

He can call it whatever he likes! It was a 2. Whether it was "his" or not is up to him.

Yeah of course he can and i'd love to be there in a big group in the clubhouse when he explains how he got his first eagle :D

Did almost exactly the same last year in Bruen trials. Don't claim it as an eagle have to say.

When I am playing practice rounds in the evenings I often drop mulligans and replay the shot, from these I have got 4 or 5 eagles in the last few months. I really annoying but you couldn't dare to call them eagles. I think you have to play ball to green with the same ball as if it was in the card to genuinely claim a score.

Thats why I have never got an eagle :( I'm an eagle virgin so to speak :o

I always though if I could play every shot twice I would go under par. So I tried it a few weeks ago. I got 7 holes in at even par(1 birdie 1 bogey) before i got pissed off walking around after golf balls and my mates got pissed off of waiting for me. Think every hole after that was a double

Think it impressive enough to hole out from that far anyway so I wouldn't worry about calling it an eagle. Fair play to him:D

Whether he claims eagle or not its still a great feeling. Playing partner of mine made eagle in Nenagh yesterday. Same guy holed out on 14th in Ballyclough few months back (110 yard par 3) the best thing I've ever seen on a golf course. There is something about seeing a shot like that, gives you a great buzz about the game. We were down wind on par 4 yesterday, 331 yards to the center of the green. He drove the ball to 18inches from the pin. Tap in eagle...easy game isn't it!
