Hey guys, i drive a 2002 ford mondeo LX 1.8, and a part of the suspension has falled off. I'm hoping somone will know what it could be called.

It broke into a few peoples, i don't have a digital camera and i can't find an image online, but i'll try describe it.

There were 2 parts, a metal ring (2/3 of it anyway) and a plastic ring that would fit inside the metal one.
I looked under the wheel arch and the bush? (rubber cover) has sagged down, i believe the part is the bush cowl or seal, but can't find anything online.

The reason it broke could be anything i believe, i could've drove up a curb too aggressively or hit a big pothole, i'll try upload an image asap.

This is kinda what the plastic ring looks like, but not exactly, the metal ring fits around the smaller circle of the plastic with my part. only image i've found so far.

    The top right part.

I think it's called a Suspension Strut Support Bearing.
Online the prices seem to be around €40, but what would the labour be like to fit the thing?
I'd assume it'd be a big job taking the whole suspension system off, or could i do it myself with the jack and a spanner/wrench kit?

Its not a big job at all.
Usually the three bolts at the top hold the whole strut assembly to the inside of the arch.
At the bottom the shock has one bolt holding it on to the lower arm.
The fix is to jack the car safely undo the three top bolts and the lower bolt to the lawer arm and remove the strut assembly
You may need spring compressors to compress the spring and replace the top bearing if so the cost will start to climb and you may be better off getting a garage to do it, its not going to be that expensive 1 hr should do it.

Ah not really, it only has to be lowered a small bit. If you take out the bolts on the side your working and just loosen off a few turns the bolts at the opposite side it should do the job.

Hey guys, turns out the coil spring broke aswell, i've a coil ordered already, but i think i'll need that plastic ring aswell, but i can't really identify it, can someone give me the exact name for it so i can order one?

Shock top, if it is available in two parts separately you want the bottom bit, see in your first picture. The bearing is on the top of that. You don't want the bearing. Are you ordering from a ford garage? It should only be a few quid also ask the parts guy can you have a look at the screen to identity the part. Can you bring it into him and show him maybe.

I was gonna get the parts in southside motors on the kylemore road, i ordered the coil already. But if they don't have it, i'll try a ford dealer, just i kinda need the part within the next day or two.

    Thanks for the response.

Had the same problem recently, the top of the coil spring was broken, and this allows the rubber ring to drop down and rattle around the shock absorber.

Oops, just seen you've identified this.
