Yes bank holidays are deducted. Get a letter from your employer if you do not get paid for it and SW will reimburse you.

of course that is if you are working part-time. Otherwise I am not sure

I've been dropped from 5 days to 3 days, with mondays and fridays as my days off, so one of the days im not getting paid for is the monday of the bank holiday. If I was on fulltime, I'd be getting paid for the day, so it seems unfair that I'm not entitled to JSB for it..

You are. Ask your employer for a letter to state that you are not getting paid for those days and you will get the money from SW. Pain, I know.

oh ok, cool, just frsutrating that they're not taking my word for it, like they do for every other day they ask me to claim for. will get onto HR on tuesday and confirm.

By the way if you are working a certain amount of weeks (I'll have to check the number) you are entitled to one fifth of your average weekly wage from your employer if you don't work the bank holiday as you have equivalent rights to a full timer.

40 hours over the past 5 weeks it seems:

    From http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employment/employment_rights_and_conditions/leave_and_holidays/public_holidays_in_ireland.html
    Part-time employees

If you have worked for your employer at least 40 hours in the 5 weeks before the public holiday and you are due to work on a public holiday you are entitled to that day off as paid leave or one of the alternatives as listed above. If you are not required to work on that particular day you should receive one-fifth of your weekly pay instead of the actual day's leave. Even if you may never be rostered to work on a public holiday you are entitled to one-fifth of your weekly pay as compensation for the public holiday.

Just said I'd post it as you may be entitled to receive it but most employers aren't too quick to tell you from my experience. Had to fight with my last 2 part time employers on the subject.
