Strings Question?

I put a new set of strings on a guitar I picked up. I never played it with any other strings so I've nothing to compare it to. It sounds to me very cold/tinny, but my other guitar is a much better guitar so I don't know if I'm expecting too much.

The guitar is a Fender Gemini II and the strings are these DADI things I got off Ebay.

My query is will a good set of string make a big difference or is this the sound of the guitar?

I'd put it down to a combination of dodgy, Chinese non-brand strings, the cheapness of the guitar and the fact that it could indeed be a different body style than your other acoustic, which would account for a lot of the difference in sound between the two regardless of strings.

I don't know if you're new to the guitar or not so apologies if I'm telling you something you already know but new guitar strings will always sound very bright until they have been played for a bit. If the old strings were on the guitar for a while you might just be used to their duller sound.

Just as a side note guys, be wary of cheap Chinese strings and counterfeits on ebay. They use various chemicals in the production of these strings that are banned in the E.U. You don't want that s**t on your skin or instrument!

Thanks lads for the replies. I'm gonna put a good set of strings on it and see what happens. I'm only using this guitar as carry around, don't want to damage my other one, so once it sounds half decent I'll be happy.
