To all you would be sharpshooters/snipers out here. What distance do you have your rifle zeroed to?

I have mine currenlty zeroed to about 40 meters. The short barrle on the G-spec dosent help

    Just curious is all :)

it depends on what distance ya want engagement to happen on your terms,

ie if you plan to mostly stand in tunnels and be shooting at a and a1 the distance ya have it set at is ok but for example when ya be attacking delta and be shooting longer distnaces compinsation will come into play but as ya know its a airsoft device so ya wont be hitting the middle of your crosshair at 100m no matter what set up ya have

i have mine set by the target by were we chorno and that what bout 90 feet from the gate?? and that set up works grand for me

Fourty is grand Séan, I zero'd mine to the range that I found I was engaging the most targets- around 40 also.

Im currently hitting an A4 size target at 40 meters 9/10 times. Any more and the accuracy starts to go off a good bit.
I would rather accuracy than range :)

    get some .28s i sapose :)

ps maybe look into gettin a longer inner barrel that will fill the silncer

It's what i'm using at the minute :)

Edit: When i get a bit more cash a TK twist barrel will be my first port of call.

Might try them. I couldn't imagian there would be big difference between them and .28's though

There can be a difference... I use two weights myself. .36 for calm days, .43 for windier days, and if i expect to be playing against 'difficult' targets.

Best method of zeroing combines hop and zero.

Set your hop, and ignore the zero. Set it to a slight climb. Set your zero point to the apex of the 'arc'. say... 40-50m. If you're aiming at someone beyond that, its a little aimed up, before, down a touch. Typically the climb from 'flat' to apex you want around 1m. Essentially, before that, its on the hairs or if the hairs are on the target, you'll hit. It gives you about 20m extra range, and you are aware of where your bbs will strike at all times. I swear by it.

ive mine zero'd to an 11cm grouping at 59 and a half feet. with the hop somehwere in the middle of not fully off but not full up. dont have anymore space to test further

Firekitten said it perfectly, but all I'll add is this. Make sure you can guesstimate that range when you're on the field. There are lots of ways to this, laser range finders, mil dot estimation etc. but that's over-complicating it. Just set up a few shooting positions/targets around so that you get used to it and how far up/down you have to aim when you're further away or closer.

Also the heavier the bb the more hop it needs!

True, but the way I see it, if you're hop up can handle heavier BBs, use them. Obviously if you have some UBERSUAPPA hop up that can shoot 10 gramme BBs straight, then don't use them. You still need FPS like!

You mean you guys dont use ice bbs made from heavy water?:eek:

I could make a comment about paint but I'm gonna keep it to myself! :D

Firekitten, just in case there's any confusion... BBs are made from plastic. :)

Unless they are made of dark matter.

You're stepping into 8mm territory there though, you crazy cat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,205 ✭✭✭Firekitten

Yup. The hopup backspin provided spins the dark matter, creating angular momentum that allows the bb to fly faster, and further, losing none of its potential energy at the muzzle, because dark matter says FU to gravity, friction, and Stephen Hawkins.

Darkmatter Bbs. It's where its at.

(darn it, I should stop reading soviet scientific papers about planetary acretion)

Or you could shoot your BBs "Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman" and take a quicker root to your target.

Bonus is you get awesome commentary also.

Create portal at feet. Create portal in ceiling above enemy position.

Poke gun through hole at feet, fire.

Job done. And there may even be cake.

Just try not to hit the guy on the head with your gun :/

Or you could use .25s and set your hop up just right and your scope zeroed reasonably well. That'd make for an interesting game verses wormholes and dark matter and whatnot.

    heh, yes.

In all seriousness, these are the consideration one needs to make.

Heavier bb, will result in more stable, accurate flight. HOWEVER, heavier bb will result in reduced range at a consistent energy profile. (Muzzle fps)

Zeroing will depend on bb weight. hop setting will depend on bb weight.

By all means, play around and find what you like, but remember, once its set, if you change... you get angry and stamp and have a fit, because you have to do it again.

    simples.
