Car noises

    I recently bought a BMW 520i 2002.
When ever I go over a bump or pothole, I hear a clicky rattle that seems to come from under the front wheels...I think. I only can hear it when the window is open but it sounds like a light metal object is loose.
    What could it be???
    Thanks,
    FoFire:confused:.

It could be any part on front side of your car m8.

Moustly likely some bushings. I would start there.

    No your doing fine :D.

Have a look under your car if you can, check along the front suspension.

For the bushings on the anti-roll bar. Also check the drop-links too.

There not that expensive either to replace.

I'll find a high kerb to bump it up onto! Thanks guys.:)

A light rattle could be a stone caught in the dust shield. Not uncommon. Whip the wheel off and have a look. Could even be a brake pad moving about which you can also check for with the wheel off.

    Don't despair yet ;-)

Do you regurally "bump" high kerbs? This might be the problem :P

check brake pads for missing or loose 'retaining' spring

Do not usually bump high kerbs.
Funny. I had a stone lodged under a golf once just below the gearstick.
It made a lot of noise. Very possible. I'll check that thanks!
Does sound like a light spring though. Rattles like a biscuit tin lid.

Sounds like a loose heat shield or missing brake pad retaining clip.

Mechanic cannot find rattle...more left wheel than right. Bloody annoying now as you hear it with windows down only and its summertime..ish.
Happens when car hits any minor bump in road...sounds like...2 coathangers rattling together.
Anyone pleeeeeease. Car is sooo perfect otherwise!
