I'm just wondering if anyone has gone on and done additional courses in anything after they qualified?

I'm not talking about additional accountancy qualifications as noone wants to do more tough exams once they qualify, but are there any good night courses etc that anyone has done just to boost up the CV?

    Hey Shurwhynot,

I did the accounting (ACCA) after a bsc and msc in finance thinking it would be the icing on the cake if not total over-kill - afterwards i did a nightcourse in trinners in computer programming as a kind of "at-grass" study, it actually added a lot to my CV, more than the msc tbh - project accoutant, very good contract work here and over in London and you get to avoid the boring monthly procedures (if you have these). When i go to a job intereview people are immediately attracted to the programming side; it looks good

    I hope this helps you,
    Warmest,
    Pickathu.

I always regretted not doing the Institute of Taxation qualification. That qualification always looks good on a CV. The best time to do it is just after qualifying as an accountant, when a lot of the tax knowledge is fresh in your head.

Agree with the poster who said the computer programming course would be useful.

I did my ACA and went straight on to do the tax exams (sitting finals 2moro week) and they are very difficult so if you don't fancy doing more exams, it may not be the best choice for you but I think it does certainly help the CV

Any advice on any programming qualifications for a a/c postgrad student?

do you have to have passed your FAEs to get the exemption or be qualified ACA, as in finished your training contract?

When i applied you had to have passed your FAE to be exempt

With the new syllabus for CAI, you now only have to have your CAP 2 passed to be exempt from part 1 (as in you do not have to be qualified yet)
