Typing this from my driveway, after spending the last 20 mins trying to get the wheel off my car. ..I'm refurbishing my alloys, all done bar the last one..and for some reason the wheel is refusing to come off..car is jacked up, all nuts removed but it won't budge...

Any tips? Is brute force a bad idea? Spray some lube in there? I don't have a clue, but any advice welcome...thanks..

Hit the wheel at the top and bottom alternately. It's just corroded in place.

    Give it a good kicking.

A good hard wallop with your foot at the base of the wheel should do it
maybe put the nuts back on loosly first just incase.
alloy wheels can kinda stick themselves to the hubs

lie down on your back with your legs facing the wheel. With both legs bent and still being able to touch your whell start to stamp oppiste side of the wheel . This always works for me.

Block of wood against the alloy either top or bottom then hit with a hammer and alternate.

Brilliant! Just tried that...took some walloping before it started to budge..but did the trick...thank very very much...and thanks to the other posters for their helpful advice too...boards never fails me :D

Now to move on to 6 hrs of wheel sanding:(

I always lower the car gently and gradually off the jack so that the wheel takes up some weight again - usually dislodges it quickly.

Using your foot is unlikely to be any use. (EDIT _ I stand corrected :-) )

Get your spare and carefully but firmly hit the thread area of the tyre against where the rim meets the tyre on the stuck wheel. Hit each side alternately if necessary but usually one good blow will do it.

Watch out for the bounce and damaging your wings!

get another wheel with inflated tyre and swing it into the rim or edge of the other wheel,ie you stand facing the stuck wheel with other between your legs and swing with force.always worked for me as i used to be a tyre fitter.good luck.

Make sure to clean away any corrosion and get some (not too much) copper grease on the mating surfaces before reinstallation. Should stop it from happening next time.

Sounds like Krav Maga training or something!

You will have this problem due to the alloy of the wheel and the steel of the hub meeting and fusing. Get a can of copper grease from Halfords, or such like, and spray the mating surfaces.
It should prevent re-occurrence of the problem.

    +1 on the copper grease.
You only need a tiny amount of it.

Also put some copper grease on the threads of the bolts.

...as said above... a good kick at the 6 o'clock position, then 12 then 6 then 12 then 3 then 9 etc etc.....

** Don't kick the car off the jack!
