    Yes: http://www.brayairdisplay.com/

and the Rose of Tralee skyfest whose website is gone.

and there's usually one in Portrush over the border.

The late great Salthill show seems to be gone for good.

This has probably been asked before but I'll ask anyway ( so forgiveness is sought in advance  )- what happened to the great Air Spectaculars held in Fairyhouse / Baldonnel years ago ?
They drew huge crowds and seemed to be a great success , why did they not continue ? Why has nobody revived them ?

Nothing like a good air show, some airshows in Castlebar in the 1980s and 90s! A scatter of Guinness and a good bbq to boot!!

They should bring back Air Spectacular at Baldonnel.

The shows of '86 to 89, '93 and in particular 2000 were brilliant and like others have said I just cant understand why it isnt held anymore, even in a smaller capacity than once was... because it is badly missed.

Anyone remember the Air Corps family day in 1997 for the 75th? Now that was a show! Swedish Viggens, various Mirages, A-10's, Texas Apaches, Tornados, Harriers, Amx's, F-16s.... sighhh... those were the days :)

    Steyr is such a tease!

As for the the Air Spectaculars, well they went the way of many an Irish event. As far as I remember they didn't make money despite their size and suffered from the usual problems escalating costs too many fingers in the pie and of greedyness. For example the farmer who had the grass cutting concession for Baldonnel demanded £20,000 compensation from the organisers. He didn't get it, the airshow didn't go ahead that year and the Air Corps gave the concession to someone else.

Of course Salthill is another example, less than enthusiastic support from Galway politicians and traders who were happy to rake in the cash but not to help out financially. It's hard to imagine any town anywhere letting go a tourist attraction that brings in 100,000 people to see an event of any sort. Typical Galway own goal!

Typical is right, and not just Galway. Sligo lost the Irish WRC event forever by similar greed. Two fantastic, free events gone thanks to a small few closed minded idiots.
Air Spectacular was excellent too, the 2000 one was great.

I see the Skyfest airshow in Tralee said on their Facebook page last night that they've confirmed two more teams, one being the SWIP Team - used to be the Twister Duo...looking forward to seeing them....hope they do the evening firework display also!

Oh yes I sure do, I was like 30 ft away from a harrier jump jet and the sound was just awesome, I remember for the days before and after the tornadoes flying over head on their way in and out of the aerodrome. To be honest the big problem with that incredible air spectacular is that I got spoiled and expected every show to be as good, since then I have been to at least 20 air shows both here and in the UK and mainland europe and nothing has come close honestly!

Stop getting my hopes up, I moved to Salthill, hoping. Get up in the morning, what will I do? Go to the airshow, five minutes later. I'm there! Stay at home, I'm there. Boring bit, go home, have a cup of tea and go back for the Red Arrows.;)
