One of the loos in the house doesnt seem to be filling its cistern fully and takes forever to fill to where it stops. How do you take the lid off these toilets with the 1-2 flush push button on the top? twas much simpler on the loos with the handle flush on the side....

Just unscrew it.Grip the surround and turn to the left.

There is a couple of different ways.

Sometimes you lift the lid up and the clutch cable is attached. This just pulls off from the bottom

Then there is the type where you screw off the whole button and the lid comes away.

Then there is the type that you pop the 2 internal flusher buttons off and there is a screw underneath.

As to your problem, either your siophan is stuck which i doubt it as it does not happen much

or there is grit or **** caught in your flush valve in which case you will need a new one.

You dont use blue loos or the equiv do you?

it doesnt seem to be the screw type, tried that already so will try the others.

blue loos, the tablet things that ye throw in the cistern and the water comes out, er, blue? yeah. The missus has been throwing them in the cistern. It lifts just enought to get a tablet in. She only started using them because it wasnt flushing properly, not the other way around.

Blue loos jam up the inlet valve. Be warned.
