And do you think that there should be an availability of evening daily mass in your area? I find that there is only morning masses in my area. and its always at 9:30am. Everyones is at work after 9:30 so its only the pensioners that attend. Can we safely assume that the priest has taken the position of: No more young people attend daily mass anyway after work so why bother really. Just us and the pensioners in the morning, lets just leave it at that.

depressing outlook I know and I'm only proposing the thought that this is the position the priests take. There may be another more realistic reason other than the one I seem to think they have.

I think there should be a daily evening Mass in the larger parishes.

It is as you say only older folks or the unemployed who can easily attend.

Maybe a good compromise would be an 8am Mass for the workers and it would get the pensioners out of bed a bit earlier!

I dont think I would want to have to get up earliar than usual to get prepared more to attend mass before going to work, along with getting kids ready for school ( and I only have one who isnt yet ) many peoples mornings are well drousy and busy. The evening time is always the best. Just home from work, just had my dinner, think I'll go for an evening stroll to the Mass and wind down for the evening before getting up for another hectic day at whatever job I've got. Whether my job be at the local carphone warehouse or whether my job be one that is looking for a job.:pac::(

I suppose part of the idea of Mass, if there is going to be one, being earlier rather than later, is it's a good way to start the day.

I think it gives older people routine and gets them out and about early in the day, and in the winter it's in the daylight hours. It also let's the priest away on with his other duties for the day etc. No time suits everyone, so I think it's a good enough arrangement.

I'm looking forward to when I'm retired (God willing) and I can do the same. In the meantime I'm happy with going on bank holidays etc. and in our parish Friday evening mass.

Its a great way to start the day and I agree, but only for those who are capable of starting it that way.

I remember a time when they used to have both. So why the change?

In most parishes I've only seen Mass on weekday mornings Mon-Thurs, or maybe it might be a shortage of priests in the larger parishes or perhaps it's something to do with the fact that untill recent years you were only allowed communion once per day.

As far as I know the current rule is that if one attends a Mass after receiving Holy Communion previously that day, one may receive it again. If it is not a Mass, but a Communion Service for example, one may not receive again.

In my parish we have no weekday evening Mass, except for Holy Days of obligation and on Saturdays.

We have regular morning Mass each day of the week.
