Results from last night's (Friday) show in Rivermount Boys FC, Finglas

Phil "The Thrill" Boyd defeated Bonesaw in the opening match.

Up next, Thunder & Lightening made their NLW debut defeating the team of Tucker & Lenny Hannah.

Up next, OMEN beat Danny Butler in a wild Extreme Rules match. The two fought all around the building using chairs and other weapons. And when OMEN attempted to powerbomb Butler off the merchandise stand, Danny ended up instead back-dropping OMEN through another table. But it was OMEN who ended up picking up the victory.

NLW World Heavyweight Champion "The Lord of the Manor" Sir Paul Tracey retained his gold next defeating Shawn Maxer after he hit the challenger with a low-blow behind the ref's back.

In the ladies match, Rachelle St. Claire defeated Kasey Owens after a 619, despite continuous interference from Owen's twin sister, Leah.

And in the main event, Paddy Morrow defeated Morrissey after a Swanton Bomb in a fantastic match which was called the "Battle of Finglas".

NLW returns tonight (Saturday) in Kildare Town, Co. Kildare at the CYMS Hall. Doors open 5.30pm and tickets are €10. Bare in mind, this show is for charity.

And then this Sunday night at 6.30pm, NLW will be in Tallaght in the Thomas Davis GAA Club, Kiltipper Road. Tickets at the door for €12. This event will be headlined by a Ladder Match pitting Shawn Maxer against Jordan Devlin. Also, a full bar service will be in operation on the night.

That's what happens in every walk of life.

It's why you only use the Internet of one part of your promotion and don't rely on it for ALL of your promotion. It doesn't mean you just shouldn't advertise online at all. If that's what you're saying then it's a really weak argument...

I work in nightclubs these days and it's the exact same scenario. There's 30 on the guestlist but only 10 show up. Does it mean that you shouldn't have bothered getting those 30 to begin with because only 1/3 of them showed? No, because you still got business from 10 who may not have showed to begin with. If you let the 20 who didn't show dishearten you then you should never run a business because you've got the wrong mindset completely.

    Right you are, I'll put my point a little clearer;

I didn't 'back out at the last minute', Coolhat. When Jamie announces the dates, I said immediately that it would be unlikely that I would be able to attend due to exams. Get your facts straight before you start calling people out.

But yeah the shows sound great. This Jordan Devlin fellow seems to be a star on the rise. I saw him once or twice when he was very green back in the NWA-I days in the CYMS hall, he was part of a faction called the regent society I think?

    :pac:
the point I was trying to make is its sad the way certain users say they cant make it, while they had no intention of going. Which is fair enough. Their choice. But why even make that 'cant make it post' in the first place.

Leggo, you cant blame nlw, dcw etc for advertisting online. its not about that. they should and do :) ... just as i said above, does a person really have to post something about them not making it, or not posting anything at all.

ps.. you work in nightclubs? ... dj?

    Yep, and promotions.

I think people post saying that because it's a way of showing support for a show they'd LIKE to see, but can't make anyway. Or sometimes it's posting feedback as to why they can't (i.e. too far away or whatever). It happens and there's nothing wrong with it as it keeps the place going.

I really don't get your issue here... this is a message board with regular posters who are wrestling fans and comment on threads as they please. People posting to say they can't make a show is their way of acknowledging the show and showing their annoyance at not being able to make it, they are totally entitled to do that and if nothing else it bumps the thread back to the top, making it more likely for other people to see the ad and go to the show... would it be better if nobody replied and it sunk like a stone to Page 2 where casual readers won't see it? Or if it was filled with enthusiastic "can't wait!" type posts that to the more cynical amongst us will smack of a Wrestlezone Ireland type of vibe.

These threads advertising local shows should embrace criticisms, reviews and always remember no press is bad press!! If it comes across as you're trying to guilt/bully people into supporting local promotions it'll only turn more potential fans off.

you seem to be forgetting it happens alot around show time of various shows!
go look through the irish wrestling promotions thread. watch as you'll see the same names pop up saying how they cant make it.

if you were running a show, can be anything, and i keep saying "oh damn i cant make it" every single time. you think i generally wanted to go?

my point is... people dont have to post this "cant make it" posts.

I get ya now, fair enough if it's the same people every time I know what you mean, but you have to wonder if the alternative is the thread slips out of view isn't that worse?

I was at the NLW Tallaght show
Im not gonna post a lecture review but IMHO Paul Tracy and Dunkan was match of the night, the ladder match was Brillant also, i feel the ladder was not needed as these two guys could of had just a great a match without it. overall view Amazing show would defo go to another one.

I think he might have a point though.

If Maxer and Devlin had gone at it in a straight singles match in Tallaght, and torn the house down as I'm sure they would have given their talent, then their rematch in the same venue in 2/3 months time would have generated real interest. A third match between the two could then take place down the line, and so on.

As things stand now however, NLW, and Maxer and Devlin, have already given the Tallaght fans everything. The two have wrestled in a ladder match, and as action-packed as I'm sure the bout was, where does this angle go from here? The ladder stipulation should have been saved for a rubber match between the two, not their first collision, IMO.

I had a look at the video link to Devlin's moonsault there. And it looked great. Great spot. But after going 'ouch!', I immediately went and checked my Facebook page, forgetting about the move, and match, entirely. It made no emotional connection with me. It was just a spot. Now, obviously, the move would have meant a lot, lot more had I seen the match in its entirety. But I wonder how much more the move would have meant within the context of a ladder match that seems to be happening for no reason, between two guys who, to my knowledge, are wrestling for the 1st time and have no reason to hate each other (Maxer and Devlin may well have fought before, but as the casual fan it is NLW's job to educate me on this, not the other way around).

Its like the two moonsaults Kurt Anlge did at the last two Lockdowns. Now, they were a thing of beauty. But more importantly, they meant so much. They were both visually awesome, but also were a crucial part of a compelling story. In Angle's match with Mr. Anderson, it looked like Angle was going for a regular, top-rope moonsault. But then, he had a look at Anderson, prone on the mat. Then he had a look at the top of the cage. He shakes his head, and apparently thinks to himself "Fuck it. I've been feuding with this guy for months. He disrespects the troops. He cut me open with my own dog tags. I ****ing hate this guy. I'm going to try and kill him." and he climbs to the top of the cage, blesses himself, and performs the move. It was amazing, and got a massive reaction not just from the crowd but also made a real emotion connection with the fan at home. It was a great moment in wrestling. One of my favorites of all time.

This year, Angle was climbing out of the cage, ready to end the match by escape, happy to put his saga with Jeff Jarrett behind him. But as he reached the top, Gunner ran to ring-side and began bashing the cage with a steal chair, ensuring that Angle could not make it to the bottom. Weighing up his options, Angle has a look down on Jarrett, the man who has stolen his wife and kids and made his life hell, and opts to moonsault down on him from the top of the cage. Beautiful.

Thats just some food for thought. I'm sure Maxer/Devlin was a fun match. Looking forward to making some NLW dates over the summer.

The thing here is, we're not TNA. We don't have the ability to run storylines. Its up to us to try give fans something different than WWE or TNA would when they are in the Point and the Stadium. So we try offer a more intimate show with special attractions like the ladder match.
In theory, what you say is correct. But realistically, a small indy company in Ireland can't be compared to TNA. We just try to offer a good wrestling show, start to finish at a cheap price. When people see it, they want to come back. We can't rely on storylines and things "meaning" something all the time. It would be nice to be able to rely on 200 people walking through the door to watch a straight match with Maxer and Devlin, and then for those same 200 people to come back 2 months later for a ladder match. But it doesn't always work like that unfortunately.
I think what indy shows need here in Ireland are good action bell to bell. And that's the direction NLW is going in. Hopefully wrestling fans want to see that and not people trying to recreate their favourite TNA or WWE storylines in their local GAA club.
Again Flan, I'm not knocking your point. In theory it's correct but the reasons outlined are why we do what we do.

Great, will give that a watch later!

Jamie I take your point. You can't be TNA, nor should you try. And absolutely, you should try and offer something different, and gimmick matches are a good way to do this. I just feel that the next time you run that venue in Tallaght, it will be tough for those two guys to top their match from last time. From a purely artistic and theoretical stand-point, I would have liked to see a Devlin/Maxer series build to a gimmick match. Also from a marketing/business stand-point, I wonder how you will sell your next show to that same Tallaght audience now that the ladder match gimmick has been used (thats not me being pessimistic, just curious).

Maybe there will be a storyline/angle... If you follow 'No Limit Wrestling' on facebook, you'd see that they are already plugging the Champion Vs. No.1 Contender Match in the future.

The reason for the ladder was the winner becomes number 1 contender so theres your reason for hatred towards each other in the match, maybe NLW's plans right now don't evolve around Maxer Vs. Devlin, but maybe more Devlin Vs. Tracey for the title.

    Good to know, sounds interesting.

Getting back to what I said earlier in the thread, anyone know more about Jordan Devlin? Seems to be getting groomed for a top spot.

Many NLW wrestlers will be wrestling internationally this weekend.

Philly The Kid, Justin Shape, Jordan Devlin and the No Limit Wrestling Champion 'Sir' Paul Tracey will be a part of the NWA UK Hammerlock show in Kent in England tomorrow night. Former NLW and current NJPW star Fergal Devitt will also appear. The event is a memorial show for Andre Baker who passed a year ago. Andre trained both Devitt and Tracey who in turn trained many of Irelands top wrestlers including Sean Brennan and Paddy Morrow. The man is truely an Irish Wrestling Legacy.

Team Epic will be travelling to Oslo, Norway tomorrow where B Cool will be accompanied by D Max as he takes part in the UEWA cruiserweight tournament. The UEWA European cruiserweight championship is up for grabs so the best of luck to B Cool and may he do us proud.

Lastly, Sean Maxer Brennan will defend his CWN Middlwweight Championship in Hamburg, Germany against Axel Dieter Jr. Sean is Irelands number one wrestler, as voted for by the users of boards, so he's bound to do us proud.

I'll try keep everyone posted on the results as soon as possible.

After winning a ladder match to become number 1 contender to the NLW Title on May 8th in Tallaght, Jordan Devlin has arrived safely at the Zero 1 Dojo in Tokyo, Japan for a 2 month stay. We wish Jordan all the best and his title match will be waiting for him when he returns. In the meantime, the hunt is on to find a new number 1 contender for the NLW Title in his absence.
