Laptop Repair

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop which is broken. One of the hinges (linking the screen and main part) is completely broken and there is damage to the casing too along the back. There are also some wires exposed.

Any good places to get it fixed in Cork? Two different places I went to said they're were different things wrong with it so I don't know which one to go to. Would repair run into a couple of hundred euros? Would I better off buying a new one (non-Dell obviously!!!!!)?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Yes I think that is it but my hinges are damaged too. The spring was weak on my laptop for some time.

But I would have no idea how to fix that or put it on. I've found more places to call into to ask about repairing it so I'll see how that goes.

One place said is was the screen cover and it would cost upwards to €200 to fix???!

200 is a joke they are taking the piss , 30 -40 for part and 50 max for labour .Its just the back cover that goes on them you can reuse the front cover.

Not always, the screw holes on the front panel can become weakened and lead to cracks. I do agree that 200 is a lot.

If the screen itself is not damaged it can be done for about €129 includes pick up and return

So you have two options. you can find someone that will take it as a trade in against another one or you can pick up one with a blown board and try and do the repairs yourself. It's a messy job if you haven't done it before. The first time I did it (with a HP ) i ended up with a brick! Seven years on, I can pull a laptop apart and put it back together in just over the hour, if it's one i've done before. I have to do this quite often to clean clothes fibre from fans.

Any difficulty if you are doing it yourself feel free to contact me as i am in cork!
