Google maps is at the bottom of the page.

    Not exactly difficult to find.

Its an amazing looking house though. Love the art deco style.

Locals believed this art deco house had a swastika on the roof – it doesn’t but a Nazi plot was hatched here

ONE OF THE most unusual homes built in 20th century Ireland – a detached house at 245 Templeogue Road, Dublin, with an amazing history – is for sale for €1.25 million, through DNG Terenure.

In May 1940, gardaí raided the house and found, in a bedroom, a used parachute, German military clothing and medals, a wireless transmitter, $20,000 in cash and documents relating to espionage. You never quite know what lies behind the facade of outwardly respectable Irish suburbia.

The house, then called Konstanz – after the southern German town on the shores of Lake Constance – was owned by Stephen Carroll Held. The businessman, who was born to an Irish woman and adopted by a German man, acted as a go-between, helping the IRA to liaise with the Nazi regime in Berlin. He told gardaí that the stash in the guest bedroom belonged to a lodger but he was promptly nicked and sentenced to five years “penal servitude”.

But there had been a lodger – who’d fled. Hermann Goertz, a German SS officer, had been staying in what he’d hoped was a “safe house”. He had arrived in Ireland a few weeks earlier, by parachuting into Ballivor, Co Meath (as one does). His mission impossible? To progress wacky plans for an IRA-backed Nazi invasion of Ireland with the aim of attacking Britain through Northern Ireland.........

Sounds like there is a whole film that could be made out of those strange (and funny?) events alone! :pac:

The odd things that go on in this country are unreal sometimes. LOL

Not sure how "wacky" the plans to invade Ireland were. The IRA had colluded with the Nazis to invade on the understanding that the country would be reunified and left alone once Britain was conquered.

The Brits knew about this and there was a counter-invasion plan in place in the UK (with Irish Government collaboration) for the British troops to invade the Republic if they thought the Nazis were likely to go ahead with their plan.

I grew up in the area and there have always been all sorts of rumours about the place, from being shaped like a swastika (thanks Google maps) to being a house where a whole family of actual Nazis stills lives.

That is a stunning house. I'd live on the south side if that was going to be my home.

    (Just a mistype)

    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/courts/father-died-after-knocking-back-a-pint-glass-full-of-spirits-in-bar-2637988.html

The guy collapsed after his pint of spirits and they just left his friends to take care of him. The barman also appears to have hesitated on serving the drink too. It wasn't like the guy had a few drink and wander off and then died of alcohol poisoning he collapsed in the bar after a pint of spirits and had been already drinking for approximately 5 hours.

    Don't....cross...the...threads

The house looks like it's made from lego.
The decor on the inside is manky.

Not my type of house at all.

    Wow!
Even is something is not to my liking I can still see quality. I don't think much of the carpets and soft furnishing. This is a quality built property with amazing original features.

Original window, floors, doors, wardrobes ceiling and wall details. That is proper solid parka wood floors which is massively expensive to get done to the original standard. Probably cost about 5k for the floor in one of those large rooms
