How can I distribute Saorvew to other TVs?

Currently receive excellent Saorview reception to main Sony in living room, and limited Freeview channels. I have 2 other MPEG 4 compatible tvs in the house but neither is picking up saorview or freeview. When I checked they each can pick it up in the living room. Signal is strong (transmitter is Malin, Co. Donegal, 5km away), aerial is in attic. Aerial feed is currently going directly to Sony in living room and then back up to attic via skybox RF output. Sky and analogue signals are coming through to the other tvs but not saorview or freeview. Wonder what has gone wrong? Do I need a new distribution box in the attic or new amplifier amybe?

I believe the aerial connection should be going directly into the sky box's RF in, you should then feed the sony TV with the RF out and leave the RF2 out where it's going.

The Sky box may well be weakening the strength of the terrestrial channels. That cable that's going "directly" to the sony, how is it then connected to the sky box? I assume the Sony doesn't have an RF out.

Also, change the Sky box's RF output frequency to in the special installer menu to Ch. 36 (Services, then 4, 0, 1 then select. A google will quickly explain all). The existing output may be interfering with some Limavady channels.

Thanks guys. You were right, the aerial is not going directly to the Sony, it is going to the rf in and then the rf is going to the sony and rf2 is going to the distribution box in the attic. So I left the cabling as it is. I also changed the rf output frequency from ch. 68 to ch. 36, however there is still no signal coming through, other than sky. I carried in the phillips tv from the sitting room to the living room to doubly check that is can still receive freeview and it can, and it is also picking up saorview there. Wonder what should try next?

Presumably the skybox output appears problem free on the other tvs, ie the return cable isn't unduly attenuating the signal?

Otherwise your aerial signal probably isn't strong enough to survive the trip via the skybox to the loft.
Do you now get the BBC mux on channel 67 since changing the modulator output?

Do you have to turn on RF2 in the menu on a Sky box or is it on all the time?

Why not take the sky box out of the equasion, connect the lead from the aerial directly to the lead going to the attic. If you get saorview at the other TV's your distribution system is ok and it's the sky box is 'doing the damage', if you don't it's your extra cabling is the problem.

From a person with little knowledge on the subject.

The DC power can be switched off, modulator & passthrough is always on afaik.

I do not know anything about Sky boxes, never having used one. I just thought that maybe it needed to be turned on in the menu.

    Good suggestion.
